It calls itself "CHRISTIAN." Under that flag, it has no right to refuse to accept Catholic fiction. The fact that it does and refuses to see the hypocrisy there was my point.
Jannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06725527285837338560noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31121848.post-40907374243639508562009-11-23T07:43:57.847-06:002009-11-23T07:43:57.847-06:00David...

In the interests of self-promotion, you've segued my discontent with how publishers represent themselves into some kind of thwarted search for non-preachy work. (!) I generally applaud "creative" ways to plug one's own stuff. This, however, was not creative at all, and it's a shame you resorted to it.

JBJannyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06725527285837338560noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31121848.post-11116383375756539102009-11-21T15:15:20.766-06:002009-11-21T15:15:20.766-06:00Janny, you write: ...and why does ACFW, in its clo...Janny, you write: ...and why does ACFW, in its close relationships with said publishers, allow this exclusion of so much of Christianity to go unchallenged?

One reason is that few, if any, publishers who DO want Catholic and Catholic friendly writing want fiction. We've talked about this before, too. Let them step up to the plate and begin realizing there is a market for such fic. Let them begin acquiring it. You can't IMO insist that an evangelical Prod-based organization accept Catholic Christian fic when the Catholic houses don't seem to want it.

My take.Debhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13100565897627429788noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-31121848.post-88777493215414190292009-11-20T22:50:16.192-06:002009-11-20T22:50:16.192-06:00Thank for the thoughtful piece. It seems you are looking for good, literary fiction that is not preachy and does not proselytise. I have just published a YA novel with those characteristics. A gripping story with unobtrusive Christian values but no preaching. Instead, lovable and unforgettable characters in real-life situations.
